I just happened upon your blog today, and want to thank you for raising awareness! We know that 80 to 95 percent of cancers have an environmental component and should, in theory, be at least somewhat preventable through awareness and avoidance. As you note, there are so many simple alternatives to carcinogen-containing products. For those pollutants that are hard to avoid, such as formaldehyde in upholstery and pressed wood products, adding a few houseplants such as ficus, ferns or palms to your home can help as well. NASA has studied extensively the ability of common houseplants to absorb household carcinogens. The EPA ranks indoor air 4th in environmental causes of cancer. A few nice plants may help in addition to being aesthetically pleasing!

Thanks!
